Tips for Planning for Your Oceanfront Vacation
- Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates
- Summer is one of the most popular seasons on the Outer Banks. If you’re unable to find a home for the summer week you originally chose for your vacation, consider staying one week earlier or later. This allows you to have more vacation home options to choose from.
- July is one of the best months to vacation on the Outer Banks. Long beach days filled with endless bodyboarding turn into warm summer nights filled with sweet treats. The Outer Banks is at its peak in July, so there is plenty to do for all ages and interests.
- Consider staying in a 2nd-Tier Oceanfront Home
- Although considered oceanfront, these lots are shaped like the ivory keys on a piano with the narrow end facing the ocean. Depending on the house, views on the side may be obscured by another home.
- Adjust Your Bedroom Requirements while searching
- Oftentimes, summer weeks are generally booked almost a year in advance. If you cannot find a home large enough for your entire group, try adjusting your search options. Try searching for a lower number of bedrooms to see if there is a home with enough beds for your group. Many times, a bunk bed room may have multiple sets of bunks beds, so the room could sleep 4 or more kids.
