???? Get ’em while they’re hot! ????

Beach season is upon us! With recent temps in the high 70’s and low 80’s with lots of sunshine, the weather has been downright perfect for long days on the beach.

The best OBX places to go are now open, there are many fun local events coming up, and the fish are biting.

OBX Things To Do

All local restaurants and shops are open, and most activities and attractions are now in full swing. We’re counting down the days to opening day at H2OBX Waterpark on May 25th! Now that the warm weather has settled in, our favorite nightlife activities are also happening now. Whether it’s hunting for ghost crabs on the beach, adding your favorite toppings to a bowl of froyo, or listening to live music while enjoying a cold beverage, these are just a few of the reasons why the OBX is just as fun at night as it is during the day.

Local Events

The OBX event calendar is packed with all sorts of fun activities, from family-friendly for the smallest visitors to lively bars for the adults.

Two words: Live. Music. Whatever your musical taste, there’s something for everyone. The Tap Shack in Duck has live music every night of the week during the summer. Catch a show at a bigger venue, like the return of rock legends Gov’t Mule at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Check out a music festival, like the Mustang Midsummer Meltdown, or simply enjoy some acoustic in a smaller setting at Art’s Place in Kitty Hawk. If you prefer to make your own music, karaoke is available in most OBX towns as well.

Looking for an OBX event that the kids will be talking about for years to come? Check out the 41st Annual Wright Kite Festival. Presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, this family-friendly event is happening July 13 – 14 at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. The largest and coolest kites around will be flying in the skies on both days.

Go Fishing

The Outer Banks is well known for having the freshest, best variety of seafood on the east coast. Whether it’s fresh shrimp, oysters, crabs, shore fish, or offshore fish, the OBX has it all. Catching your dinner is a fun adventure suitable for kids as well as adults, depending on what you’d like to catch. Whether you want to go crabbing on the soundside or take a trip offshore to try and catch some tuna, check out our local recommendations.  Our favorite OBX bait and tackle shops are included as well as our favorite inshore and offshore fishing charters.

Pro tip, courtesy of Ross Twiddy: Enjoy your tuna the same day it was caught – grilled rare with a side of Jill’s famous fresh mango salsa from Bluewater Seafood Market in Corolla. It’ll be an OBX vacation meal to remember!

Bluewater Seafood Market can also supply you with tuna and a plethora of other fresh Outer Banks Seafood delivered straight from the docks.

Why July?

It’s no secret that July is our favorite month on the Outer Banks. We have more hot vacation deals in July than we’ve ever had before!
