4th of July is the Outer Banks’ favorite holiday. Whether you’re grilling burgers with family at your vacation home or planning to head out to a community celebration, the Outer Banks is the perfect place to celebrate Independence Day.

Celebrate Independence Day in Corolla with a fun afternoon of activities concluding with fireworks over the Currituck Sound. There’s something for everyone, beginning at 3:00 pm, with live music, food vendors, watermelon eating contest, cornhole tournament, and children’s games. Leashed dogs are welcomed too.

OBX fireworks over the Atlantic Ocean! Bring your picnic blanket or beach chairs and find a spot on the beach to watch the show. Fireworks can be seen for several miles North or South of Avalon Pier if crowds and/or noise are a concern for your family.

Town of Nags Head 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

The annual Independence Day fireworks in Nags Head will happen over the ocean at Nags Head Fishing Pier. Fireworks can be seen for several miles North or South of the pier.

Town of Manteo 4th of July Fun and Fireworks

Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm

 

Manteo’s Independence Day celebration begins at 3:00 pm with music and contests before a fireworks display over the water. The event kicks off with The Lost Colony Choir performing on the Courthouse Stage. Next up are the Wacky Hat Contest, Decorated Bike Contest, and the Apple Pie Contest. Live bluegrass music concludes the action on the Courthouse Stage. The music continues on the Boathouse Stage at 6:30 pm until the fireworks show at 9:30 pm. 

 

Pro Tip: From the top of Jockey’s Ridge, you can see the Nags Head and Manteo fireworks.

Fireworks are visible along the beach in Avon, on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:15 pm.

Parade: Scarborough Lane, Ocean Way, and Christopher Drive

Parade begins at 9:00 am

 

The one-mile parade route begins at the top of the hill on Scarborough Lane, travels toward the ocean and along Ocean Way, and ends on Christopher Drive. Walk to Duck Town Park after the parade for live music, watermelon, and parade awards.

Celebrate Independence Day with a chip-timed morning run. Special 4th of July medals are awarded to participants. Race entry fee discounts are available for Active Duty and Veterans. Race day registration is available if the race is not full.
