Outer Banks Pool Party Guide

Fun for the whole family!

While beach days are an essential part of an Outer Banks vacation, sometimes the best vacation memories happen right at your vacation home, poolside. Having a pool party during your vacation is a great way to soak up the sun, whether you’re splashing around with the kids, lounging with a drink in your hand, or watching golden hour from a pool float. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to plan a pool party, from themes and snacks to games and local touches.

Refreshing Eats & Drinks

Snacks are an important part of keeping everyone happy for a pool party! You can get creative with snackle boxes, fruit skewers, or even a charcuterie board! For a hot summer day, make sure you have frozen popsicles ready for the kids to cool off with!

Have a cooler with drinks, including lemonades, iced tea, or a fun mocktail setup. Have adult options ready, too, including local craft beers, cocktails, or frozen drinks for adults to enjoy.

Poolside Entertainment

No pool party is complete without having the perfect summer playlist! Many of our homes have an outdoor speaker system that you can connect via Bluetooth, or pack a wireless speaker with you!

Keep the fun going with fun water games, or have games set up for those who are out of the pool! You can have a cornhole tournament, play giant Jenga or chess, or have a deck of cards nearby.

You’ll want to have your fun pool floats inflated! Some of our favorites would have to be flamingos and donuts! These make for the cutest photo opportunities.

OBX Picnic Company

Local Touches to Elevate Your Party

Shop local for fresh ingredients or party supplies! Local vendors, like Pop Up OBX Picnics, offer a luxury set-up and picnic area for your family to enjoy! We also love charcuterie boards from Vine & Board in Duck, as they sizes that serve 1-2 people, up to 30 people. Or, for an adult pool party, you can hire Kiiind Cocktails to supply handcrafted cocktails or even teach your guests an explorative mixology class.

Safety First

The safety and security of you, your family, friends, and guests are of the utmost importance to Twiddy.

Keep a watchful eye on children in the pool! Establish any pool rules prior to the party, such as no running or diving. If your rental home features direct access to a pool from the interior of the home without the barrier of a gate or fence, a pool alarm will have been put in place as a safety precaution.

Have sunscreen, hydration, and beach towels easily accessible!

A pool party is the perfect way to bring family and friends together during your Outer Banks vacation. Ready to host your own? Start by booking a Twiddy Vacation Home with a private pool and let the fun begin!
