This home feature provides seamless access to every level of a home and adds both comfort and convenience for your vacation.

Most beach homes on the Outer Banks are elevated on pilings and designed across multiple levels. It’s part of the charm, but it also means bedrooms on different floors, living spaces and kitchen up high for the best views, and a lot of stair climbing. And on check-in day, the last thing our guests want to do is carry coolers, suitcases, groceries, and baby equipment up multiple flights of stairs. Elevators dramatically simplify check-in and check-out days, something repeat Outer Banks guests quickly learn to prioritize.

Not only does it allow for convenience, but it also allows for added comfort for family members with mobility limitations. Without an elevator, stairs can turn a dream vacation into a physical challenge. An elevator allows everyone to stay together in one home comfortably. Is the elevator available for guest use?

Yes, the elevator is available for guest convenience unless otherwise noted. Be sure to review the property’s house rules for usage guidelines. Elevators are not intended for unsupervised use by children.

 

Is the elevator considered ADA-compliant?

Features and accessibility vary per home. Twiddy homes are not guaranteed to be ADA-compliant. Can we use the elevator for luggage and groceries?

Absolutely! Many guests say this is one of the best perks, especially after a long travel day or grocery run.

What happens if the elevator stops working? Or if the home loses power? 

Like any mechanical system, elevators can occasionally require service. Twiddy will coordinate repairs as quickly as possible, but temporary outages may occur.

If your home loses power, please give us a call. The elevator will not work if the home loses power. All elevators have a phone and a light in case of emergencies. 

Does the elevator reach all levels of the home?

Yes, most of our homes’ elevators reach all the levels. However, there are some exceptions. Please call us at (866) 457-1190 to confirm if you’re looking at a specific property.
