Perhaps the most mysterious phenomenon of all is the “Seneca Guns”. These sudden booming sounds that can shake homes without warning have been recorded on the Outer Banks since the 1800s, long before aviation. This mystery is specific to the Outer Banks, and there’s no scientific explanation for it.
