August’s Friendly Pet is ESPN

ESPN is a certified snuggle bug but enjoys hopping in the car for a ride about OBX. She particularly likes going to the beach to run in the sand or heading to the sound to splash around. Contrary to her amusement of these messy activities, ESPN doesn’t like the rain or getting her feet wet.

But don’t let her name fool you, this quirky girl also goes by “Pretty Pretty Princess,” a nickname she rightfully deserves. Rescued from a neglectful home, ESPN now lives a life of luxury in her forever home in Kill Devil Hills.

Day in and day out, she receives so much love and snuggles but somehow always gives even more in return. When we asked ESPN’s mom if she has a favorite memory of her pretty pretty princess, she shared with us a touching story. Before ESPN’s brother passed, she used to clean his entire face and ears. ESPN continues to show her love for others every day, even going so far as to greet people at the door with a gift — currently, it is a tiny pillow.

In the words of ESPN’s mom,

“Dogs are the only animals that love more than they love themselves.”
